Orbx - FTX AU Blue

With every review there are certain challenges to overcome, the biggest challenge for me was to put down the simulator long enough to pencil a few words on a page. FTX has taken up a vast amount of my time since it's release. Why not? Have a read to find out why.

Computer Hardware

NaturalPoint TrackIR 4Pro

Flight simulation enthusiasts are continually searching for that next level of realism. Be it in the level of detail in their scenery or aircraft, or in the peripherals used to control the planes that seem to be growing in complexity with every new version of the latest and greatest simulator platform.

In this review, Colin Buckle takes us through his first experience using NaturalPoint's TrackIR 4 Pro. One such peripheral which is helping to increase the immersiveness of the flight simulation experience through the use of 3D motion tracking.

TrackIR 4 Pro
is now available at The FlightSim Store.

Ultimate Night Environment 2007Zinertek Technologies

Since its release back on September 1st 2006 the latest version of Zinertek Technologies complete night texture enhancement for FS2004 entitled Ultimate Night Environment 2007 has received several glowing reviews from both users and industry commentators.

We thought we'd hand it over to our resident ATPL and expert reviewer David Allen to see what all the fuss was about. In this review David gives us his thoughts and a few tips for getting the most out of this night environment upgrade.

Product Reviews: Just Flight Lancaster

Just Flight Lancaster

The Avro Lancaster is probably the most famous heavy bomber ever built and it rates alongside the Spitfire as one of the most easily-recognised aircraft. Lancaster is supplied in a variety of variants and liveries and all come with detailed crew stations that you can man the aircraft from.

In his second review for AusFlightSim, David Allen gives us the run down on this package, an aircraft he has only ever seen close up in real life at the War Memorial in Canberra, and in the air as part of the Battle of Britain display at Farnborough a few years ago.

Just Flight A340-500/600

Part of Just Flight's new F-Lite range, the A340-500/600 package has been specially designed by the experts at Commercial Level Simulations to be very high in quality and yet be easy to operate.

In this review our resident ATPL, David Allen applies his real world experience and recent Airbus conversion training to providing us with an in depth run down on this addition to the Just Flight range of aircraft.

Just Flight A400M Review

The A400M is the next generation of military transport aircraft and is set to re-equip a number of air forces in 2008. It’s the transport for the new millennium and now virtual pilots get their chance to jump the queue and fly this impressive military Airbus before anyone else.

In this review Pete Markovic has an in depth look under the hood of the new A400M and gives you the scoop on one of Just Flight's latest and greatest creations. Included are a number of screenshots, the comprehensive description provided from the publisher and the official press release from Airbus Military.

VOZ Powered

The wait is over and VOZ day is finally apon us. While you are downloading, I hope you have taken my advice and subjected yourself to a little default scenery. If you haven’t there is still time because to truly appreciate VOZ, I think we all need a little reminder of what life was like before VOZ.

I have tested VOZ 0.99 extensively and I can honestly say I have not even scratched the surface. With such a complete product in VOZ 0.99. I couldn’t help but wonder weather it was even possible to significantly improve it. If they can improve on VOZ 0.99 surely it will only be by a small margin right? Wrong! VOZ 1.1 is a major upgrade with a long list of features and enhancements and I will try to impose on you a sense of those enhancements in this review.

Product Reviews: Saitek X52 Review
Posted by Gavin on Monday, February 27 @ 00:00:00 EST
Computer Hardware There are not too many people that will argue with me when I say that Saitek’s X52 flight sticks are the best value HOTAS (Hand On Throttle And Stick) combination a flight sim enthusiast can buy. Infact the only people that might argue are those people yet to lay their hands on one off Saitek’s products.

I have used and reviewed every HOTAS system on the market today and I continue to be impressed with the innovation coming out of Saitek Lab’s.

The Saitek X52 is sleek, attractive, and very well built for what could be regarded a budget control system. Do not allow yourself to be fooled by the low price when you see this baby on the shelf. The Saitek X52 can match the performance of anything on the market including the big expensive systems on offer for over 800 dollars. The newest addition in the Saitek product line has been built to last with quality components and wiring you would not expect in a product of this price range. Saitek support has provided me with detailed information on how to disassemble their sexy stick and I will post photos later to show you what I’m talking about in regards to the “quality components” One other thing worth a mention is that Saitek appear to design their flight sticks with the home handy man in mind. Every flight stick released to date is easy to pull apart and even easier to put back together again. That is because Saitek products are HAND MADE and as such they are designed accordingly. Making there products by hand means they are well designed inside and out. You will not find wires glued to conductor panels like I have, in other brands. The Saitek X52 is trim and neat and the weight that you feel in the sticks is the result of quality components and not a large metal weight in the bottom.
